Is a spare on a roof rack a bad idea.
I don t think it would mainly because those tires are so stiff.
This instructable is a companion project to a previous instructable project of mine called wooden roof rack which can be found here.
I created this instructable to address some concerns a few members had expressed with using wood for the mount and.
I feel like it can t be too bad since your tires get just about as much exposure but maybe not quite as much sunlight.

For those of you that don t have a trailer hitch and don t want to have one installed you can use strap on trunk racks or spare tire racks if you ve got an extra tire on the back of your vehicle.
I wonder if that would work.
If you ve got a roof rack or cargo basket then you can gain cargo space inside your vehicle and carry a larger spare with one of our roof mounted spare tire carriers.

The roof rack on the top of the tear drop trailer is quite useful in carrying items such as bicycles sport items fishing items etc.
A lot of people carry spare tyres on their roof racks and that s fine providing you watch the total roof weight and can get it up and down.

First my vehicle hummer h3 has slightly curved factory roof racks and i d rather not replace.
