Installing A Tj Windshield Roof Seal

When installing on tj models add the strip to the top front lip of the hardtop up to the front edge. Make sure the string ends hang inside the car. On late model tj s push up the ends of the factory windshield gasket into the top.

Sit in the front seat and look up at the windshield. The moulding is wedged into a channel in the top of the windshield seal find and separate the channel loosen and the mould ing will come right out. Front windshield frame 2 place the strip across the windshield portion of the top. First take off your windshield s exterior trim and use paint thinner or another adhesive remover to clean the area under and around the seal.

The rubber should be right against the body ready to pop into place. Install the windshield. Make sure top is centered on the windshield frame and gasket. Do not remove the old gasket.

Before you tighten down the flange bolts make sure the top is centered on the windshield. Finally smooth any rough areas using an index card. Press the windshield into place using your hands to push the rubber as far into the space as possible. Then dry the area and apply brand new sealant to your windshield beneath the seal.

Have your helper put slight pressure on the outside top of the windshield. It is ok to place this gasket over the existing gasket.
