Once installed turn the handle 90 degrees to lock the slide lock.
How to install a slide lock on a garage door.
Garage door slide locks are a good way to secure your garage door if you won t be using them for a while such as when you go on trips.
Locate the screw holes on the garage door s second section directly to the left of the track s rectangular slot.
The lock bars are the two straight pieces going from the lock to each side of the door.
This will turn the operating lever and extend the bolt into the locked position.
Remove the two screws holding the strike plate in place on the door jamb and install the new one in the same position.
The bars join on a plate that mounts over the lock shaft.
Install both knobs by sliding the spindle through the slot in the latch.
The spindle turns with the knob and causes the springs within the latch to slide the bolt into the door so it opens.
Align the two long screws from the inside knob into the cylinders on the exterior door knob and tighten the screws.
If you position them.
Pull the inside handle off the shaft and pull the lock bars off the shaft.
3 hold the slide lock up.
These open screw holes will hold the slide lock in place.
