How to install a bathroom door lock.
The most widely used type of bathroom door lock is a knob or lever lock with a built in privacy function.
Place the lock against the face of the door so that the locks face plate is flush with the door edge now take a pencil and make a mark through the locks spindle holes to the door face the locks spindle hole and the spindle that will lock the lock allow the handles to work the lock correctly after installation.
Some blank doors have a specific swing.
Then hold either the door lock or door bolt against the edge of the door.
Measure the centre point of the door and draw a vertical line between the two marked points.
Mark the top and bottom of the door lock with a pencil.
If you re installing a pre hung door make sure you get the correct swing determined by the placement of the hinges and doorknob.
The door will open freely at all times when the bathroom in unoccupied.
To begin place a door stop to ensure that the door is locked in place.
Attach the interior part of the deadbolt lock by inserting the two provided long screws through the interior plate the two screw holes in the bolt and into the exterior side of the lock.
Open the door and stand with your back to the hinges.
Hand thread the screws then tighten them using a screwdriver or power drill.
The door will remain locked until you turn the knob from the inside.
