To remove rust from large metal items you can use an acidic rust removal chemical treatment.
How to get rust off of metal door hinges.
To avoid removing the doors systematically remove one hinge from each door.
For example start with all the top hinges.
I use steel wool 000 to 0000 to remove rust off metal.
Wd40 is one of my favorite products and a staple in my workshop but i always use dry graphite or spray silicone lubricant on hinges.
First put on a pair of rubber gloves a dust mask and some protective eyewear.

It took me the better part of a day but eventually all our hinges were beautiful and shiny again.
Remove them and scrape the paint from all those hinges.

Rinse the hinges off with water then dry them really well with a towel and you re ready to reinstall.
This might take off some of the paint on the door as well but paint is easy enough to replace once you are done cleaning.

Then re install all the top hinges and remove the middle hinges next.
